This was an experiment in semiotics for a uni assignment. Swapped all the semiotic stuff from the packaging of two different products. interesting assignment.

Realised I haven’t done any drawing in a looooong time. And miss it! here’s my flatmate emma while she studies… quite the mission as she has almost no ability to sit still.

Is it just me or does she look a little skeptical?

This was a product design assignment where I had to design packaging that had a second life… I guess I stretched the definition of “packaging” a bit but the idea is you collect these tree branches that are used as the display hangers for jewellery, then join them up to make a tree.

I’d like to say it was an on-trend environmental concern that drove this design but I think I just wanted to make something that looked cool and seemed like a good idea…

I seem to be pretty good at getting inspired to do these really time consuming paintings that I hate doing, but forget that I hated it when I love the end result. (It’s a vicious but rewarding cycle).
Especially when i get a bit too perfectionisty in keeping patterns consistent.

I painted this for a friend’s 21st and regretted it pretty quickly as it took sooo long… but his eternal gratitude (being my number 1 fan) made up for it.

Hello!

I’m Hazel. I’m a student in Graphic Design at AUT. I love illustration, design and being creative. For fear of sounding like a geek I also love maths and problem solving. I hate being bored and I love being the centre of attention. I am a little more vain than I would perhaps like to admit. And I am often told I am hard to read… I think it’s the sarcastic sense of humour.
